The Chun Challenge for Change

Dean Chun and his team are working on tackling some big issues on campus, and we need your help! Come up with an idea to address a problem at Yale. How can you reimagine something that hasn’t changed in the past 50 years? How can you redesign something that is broken to improve our campus?

Your idea can tackle one of the following:

•Environmental issues: This could include ideas related to climate change or sustainability (e.g., “How can you reduce food waste in your college?” or “How can a part of Yale be more energy efficient?”).

•Student wellness: Ideas could focus on a broad range of areas, including mental, emotional, physical, social, and professional health.

•Sense of belonging at Yale: This could include ideas related to diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus.

•Any other solutions to problems that you think our community can address!

Application and Pitch-OFF

The winning team will receive $500, plus dinner with Dean Chun.

Teams must include a minimum of two Yale College students and must include students from 2+ different majors; it’s fine to have team members from different residential colleges. We will select teams based on how innovative and interdisciplinary the idea is and the impact it will have on tackling a problem at Yale.

Finalist teams will be selected and notified by March 18. These finalist teams must prepare a 3-minute presentation to showcase their idea to a panel of judges, including Dean Chun, for the Chun Challenge Pitch-Off on April 3 (5-7pm). Note that teams will get support from Tsai CITY staff to practice their presentations.

Applications are due at 11:59pm on March 8. For questions regarding the Chun Challenge application, please contact Nya Holder (nya.holder@yale.edu).
