Yale Women Innovators: Fron Humans to Machines with Emotional Intelligence

Marissa McCoy began her career in international education where she developed novel programs and tools for the human-to-human transfer of emotional intelligence (EI) skills in Jamaica, Rwanda, and the Congo. Marissa changed her course after seeing the ubiquitous rise of technology and an opportunity to foster EI skills through human-machine interactions, kickstarting a first-of-its kind interdisciplinary collaboration between the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and the Yale Social Robotics Lab. Currently leading innovation engagement and partnerships out of MITRE’s MassRobotics office in Boston’s Innovation District, Marissa will share her journey from the female-dominated field of education to the male-dominated high-tech startup scene and how she's innovating as a non-technical person in an engineer-centered sector.
